This work is an experiment and investigation between material and the subject matter with line, depth, surface, form, the perspective illusion and the space. The work engages the physicality of looking and the possibilities of the viewer to create narratives between the parts and the whole artwork. I’m exploring the possibility of lines and material which can construct or deconstruct the space. It’s reinvention from my previous work - Kubika 2009 and also a reaction towards the expressive use of paint by combining constructed lines and material. I used my daughter’s portrait as the subject matter and distorted it with fluorescent colour lines as a representation of dreams, targets and ambitions. It is also as a metaphor of the mixed emotions that I had when she’s about to come to our world as if I’m about to go to war.
